Commercial & Residential Mold Evaluations

What is Mold?

Mold growth and water intrusion can cause serious damage to buildings, in addition to posing significant health risks. When water affects your home or office, a professional water intrusion assessment & mold remediation protocol is key to returning your home or facility safe and functional.

Are you prepared to deal with mold and moisture concerns? We have the staff, protocols and programs

MoldQuest can assist you with the assessment of mold growth and water damage (both clean and contaminated/black water). We will evaluate the scope of damage, assess the related contaminants, identify impacted materials, identify locations of elevated exposure and occupant risk, and provide DETAILED recommendations for remediation. All of these services are delivered through an effective mold inspection facilitated by a seasoned and expert professional.

When remediation is needed, our DETAILED remediation protocol is instrumental in assisting with contractor selection and bid comparisons (apples to apples).   We can provide jobsite monitoring when needed, and clearance documentation of the building condition following remediation to confirm acceptable conditions have been acheived.

MoldQuest also works with building owners and managers to create and implement programs to minimize the frequency and severity of water intrusion and mold growth events by creating custom operations and maintenance programs, procedures, performing proactive audits, and supporting training and education. If moisture remediation is required, we provide the expert oversight to help make it happen.

Dealing with mold and moisture problems can be a difficult challenge, but with our team working with yours, addressing these issues doesn’t have to be an insurmountable task.

Can Mold Cause Health Problems?

Molds have the potential to cause health problems in humans and pets. Some molds produce allergen protiens which, when inhaled or ingested, can result in an allergic reaction, triggering/exacerbating of underying heath conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD) and irritation.  Some molds produce toxic substances (mycotoxins) which, when inhaled or ingested, can result in respiratory distress, skin irritation, headaches, fatigue and nausea. Some may cause infection, especially in those individuals with compromised auto-immune systems.

Mold Testing

When necessarry, our team will perform mold sampling to accurately identify the types and amounts of mold spores present at different locations within your residence or facility.  The usual purpose of these samples is to determine the "Scope of Contamination", which can in some cases differ from the "Scope of Damage" significantly.   Testing is not always necessarry.  The inspector will typically review the sample needs with our Clients only after evaluatting the structure.  A thorough Inspection combined with limited/targeted testing (when needed) are the main pillars allowing us to determine the root cause of your issue, and develop an accurate and effective remediation protocol to correct it.

When Should You Test For Mold?

  • If your residence, commercial property, or building has had a flood, leak, or sewage back-up and third party restoration scope evaluation or clearance documentation is necessary (e.g. related to garment, content, HVAC, and structural contamination)
  • If you are experiencing foul moldy or musty odors
  • If you intend to purchase or lease a commercial property
  • If an individual(s) has been diagnosed with a disease that is or may be associated with a fungal exposure (e.g., hypersensitivity disease and aspergillosis).
  • If there is evidence from a visual inspection or bulk sampling that the ventilation system may be contaminated.  The purpose of such air monitoring is to assess the extent of contamination throughout a building
  • If the presence of mold is suspected (e.g., musty odors) but cannot be identified by a visual inspection or bulk sampling (e.g., mold growth behind walls)
  • To identify specific fungal contaminants as part of a medical evaluation or occupant risk evaluation (e.g. occupants are experiencing symptoms which may be related to fungal exposure)
  • To evaluate the sources of airborne contamination
